REJOICE !! - Our offer for the former Methodist Church on Leyland Lane, Leyland has been accepted!

This is a wonderful opportunity for us all in the life of our Community.  It is 18 years since we started to be active in the local area, with the visits of Fr Stephen on the basis of a Liturgy only every 3 months.  For all this time we have been looking for a place we could call our own with several disappointments and close misses along the way.  Now we can make progress!  Rejoice!  Thanks be to God!!
Our solicitors have been instructed to deal with the purchase and we now have to secure the pledged financial support.  A mortgage is also being secured for the balance required in order to buy the Church.  When we actually take possession we will set up a temporary Iconostasis for the Holy Liturgy in the Parish Hall whilst the Church itself is converted for proper Orthodox worship.  We are in the process of setting up a refurbishment sub-committee to discuss what needs to be done immediately.  This sub-committee will also draft a schema for long term plans and will seek the views of everyone.  We are in this together!  Rejoice!!

Lent Offering
This is to be given to the Orthodox Children’s Home of Hope in Albania.  If you have not given your money to the treasurer as yet, please do so now.

Building Fund
Many of us have promised to donate or lend money to the Community for the purchase of the Church Building.  If you have not yet confirmed this, or sent your money to us, please do it now.  It is essential that we are able to proceed with the financial side of the new Church very soon.

Services
Because of refurbishment building and electrical work being done at Galloway Hall during May, we will be serving the Holy Liturgy in the church hall belonging to St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church, with grateful thanks to them.  St Cuthbert’s is further along Lytham Road, just before the low bridge under the railway.  The church hall itself is behind the church just off Douglas Road which goes down the side of the church off Lytham Road.  The services affected are those on the 13th, 20th and 27th May and the Liturgy will start at a slightly later time of 11.00am.  The complete list of our services is on the Services page.
BUT KEEP CHECKING - WE MAY BE IN OUR NEW CHURCH SOON
