We are part of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of
Thyateira and Great Britain and therefore in communion with the
Oecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Although part of the Greek
Orthodox Archdiocese our members include people from many nationalities
including Greek, Cypriot, Russian, Romanian, Georgian, Bulgarian,
Indian, Malaysian as well as British. To cater for our multi-national
membership our services are therefore mainly held in English and we
have received a number of new people into the Orthodox Church over the
years.
We held Services in various places around the
Preston and Wigan area from November 1989. From January 2000 - July
2007 we rented the Galloway Hall in Preston on Sunday mornings to serve
the Holy Liturgy. This provided a more permanent base and support grew
from people of different nationalities.
After what seemed like an endless search for a
property to use as our own church we finally found and successfully
purchased the former Leyland Lane Methodist Church on Leyland Lane in
Leyland, which we moved into on July 23rd 2007.
After the Liturgy, tea and coffee is provided so
if you are new please do join us for a drink and make yourself known to
us. You will always find a warm welcome at Holy Apostles.
